Resident Evil 8 Trailer Is Here, New Video Game Is Coming to PS5 in 2021

During Sony’s PS5 reveal event today, Capcom quelled Resident Evil rumors by announcing a brand-new entry in the storied franchise, called Resident Evil 8: Village. It’s headed to PlayStation 5 in 2021. The game is set in a–you guessed it–village, though we also saw several other locations, including a forest, castle, and some nearby dilapidated houses. It’s confirmed that Resident Evil 7 protagonist Ethan is back, as well as that game’s first-person perspective.

The previous two Resident Evil games were Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes, both in third-person. Prior to this, Resident Evil 7 released and shifted the series to a first-person perspective.

While it was announced during Sony’s PS5 event, the official Resident Evil 8: Village website states it’s also coming to PC (via Steam) and Xbox Series X. It’s also worth noting that the site explicitly clarifies that the 2021 release window is “tentative,” meaning it’s subject to change. The studio will provide another update on the game sometime this August. For now, check out some screenshots below.
